District 11 - Rod Perry
Brief personal background (education, profession, any previous involvement in local government or community organizations. etc.):
Born in Richland Center. Grew up in Viola, Vernon County, - age 1 to age 18. . Graduated Viola High School, 1962. Attended U-W Richland for 2 semesters and a summer school session, 2016 - 2017. Moved back to R.C. in 1962 and have lived here ever since. At Haseltine Street address for 52+ years Married 58 + years to Helen. 2 sons, Jeffery - Deerfield, WI - and Gregory- Richland Center. Former member of Finance Committee and of the School Board of St. Mary's Parish, Richland Center where I have been a member since 1973. Broadcaster as a profession with career spanning 65 years. Employed 11 years at Lands' End, Dodgeville, in various positions including Embroidery CAD Designer for 8 years . City Council Member 1978 to 1988. Council President 5 years; Acting Mayor for short time. Member of Richland Center Utility Commission 40 years 1980 - 2020 and Commission President from 2000 to 2020. Appointed to Co. Board August, 2025. Elected April, 2026.
What motivated you to run for County Board Supervisor?
Due to a resignation, District 11 had no representation on the County Board. After considerable advertising, no one else came forward, so I volunteered for appointment to the Board. Originally I was not going to run for this term, but no one else came forward.
What are your main goals or priorities for Richland County?
Resolving the issues with the former Richland Campus; Retaining our current Ambulance Service and making conditions better for the personnel; Finding ways to re-vitalize and provide financing for Symons Recreation Center; Future facilities planning for the County; Finding ways to budget for future facilities maintenance; Finding creative ways to finance present and future County needs.
